Moderation Guidelines
All discussions on Ignites and FundFire are moderated. No content will be posted to our sites until it is approved by an editor.
What We Will Approve
For content to be approved and posted by an editor it must:
- Pass through our primary filter: Does this comment make our readers smarter?
- Be concise and clear.
- Further the discussions on our sites. Simply posting "So?" or "Duh!" will not suffice.
- Not contain abusive or unfairly negative commentary. Examples of such behavior include, but are not limited to, backstabbing a competitor or ad hominen attacks on previous posts.
- Be attributed as specifically as possible to a reader without violating a reader's desire for anonymity. An example: A subscriber identified as a "West Coast Wholesaler for a Top 50 Mutual Fund Manager"
What Happens When You Post
When you comment on Ignites/FUNDfire content, you will receive a copy of your submission in the email associated with your account. All readers who post comments will hear back from us within two hours on whether their comments have been approved.
Editing Your Comments
Readers whose comments are not approved for posting will be given the opportunity, working with our editors, to have their comments edited. Our editor will send any edits of your submission to the email address associated with your account.
These edits may include but are not limited to edits to make comments clearer or more concise or the removal of inappropriate comments.
We ask that you confirm that any edits have not violated the intended meaning of your original post. We will not post an edited comment without your assent to our suggested changes.
Feel strongly that our edit misses the mark? Tell us! We want to work with you. Our edits seek to make sure a comment gets your intended message across while meeting our desire for focused, pertinent comments.
Rejecting Comments
We may also reject posts entirely. Again, our baseline for making such calls is simple: Did the post make our readers smarter? We ask this because Ignites/FUNDfire seeks a discussion that improves the best practices in the investment management industry.
How Anonymous Can I Be?
You may submit posts without revealing your name and company. Understanding what role someone plays in the industry, however, can help readers place a comment in context — again, making them smarter. The editors will work with you to cloak your identity in a way that provides such context while shielding your identity — for example, to hide your firm's product intentions while still allowing you to add insight to our discussion.
How to Contest Posts
If you believe that someone has slipped a jibe at a competitor past our editors, please contact interactive@ignites.com or interactive@fundfire.com immediately. We will review the offending post and may pull down such comments that erroneously passed through our edit process.
Debate, Don't Diss
Posts can elicit fierce disagreement. We welcome that debate! Just remember that you can dissect an argument without lapsing into uncivil behavior. And if you can't do so, our editors will work hard to resurrect the core of your argument without the abrasiveness.
